In the community of tanbi_, you can find the translations of 4 chapters of the first novel. Since the translation is taking a while, and I know that most of you are dying to know how it's going to end, I thought a summary would be nice. To those who never heard of this story: Answer 1+2 is written by Sakiya Haruhi and illustrated by Yamane Ayano. Sakiya Haruhi also wrote the popular Shinayaka series, in the dramacds starred by Miki Shinichirou and Kamiya Hiroshi. Answer is about Hatano Yukio, a male kindergarten teacher in the 30's, who went to a class reunion and is then suddenly raped by a stranger he helped on the streets after he got drunk. That stranger is Mashiba Takaaki. Mashiba seems to have it all, good looks and a good brain. But on the night he meets Hatano, he just came back of the wedding of his previous lover, Ikawa Yukio, who got married without even telling Mashiba face to face. Since Hatano and Ikawa have the same name (Yukio), the drunken Mashiba decides to mess with Hatano. After the rape, Mashiba threatens Hatano with telling the kindergarten where Hatano works at what happened between them to continue their sexual relationship.

Answer 1:
Up to ch4, I suggest to read it here. I'll start my summary from ch5. From that day on, Mashiba didn't make contact with Hatano. In late autumn, Hatano calls Kamata. From Kamata, Hatano hears that Mashiba hasn't looked good ever since they went drinking together. Hatano then asks for Mashiba's adress, and then goes to visit him. Hatano finds a surprised Mashiba, who smells of alcohol. Hatano then inquires about the reason, could it be that Ikawa is involved? Mashiba snorts that it's none of his business. Feeling that he isn't welcome, Hatano leaves, but Mashiba insists on sending him home. When they arrive at the station, and Hatano was saying his goodbyes, Mashiba suddely holds Hatano very thight. "Don't go... I.... I love you". Being very aware where they are, with all the eyes on them, Hatano suggests to go back to Mashiba's apartment. Hatano gives Mashiba a sermon: what is he thinking, doing such a thing in his own neighbourhood! Also, he thought that Mashiba got tired of him, which is why he didn't contact him for such a long time. But it would be natural; Mashiba being young and handsome, why would he choose someone plain like Hatano? All they know about each other is their bonding through flesh after all. Mashiba embraces Hatano. They should return to his apartment, because what he has to say, isn't meant for others to hear. There he apologises, he's unable to leave Hatano, he loves him. Hatano replies he doesn't need to apologise, because he... also loves him. Mashiba wishes if only he can bear him a child, that way he'd be able to complete Hatano's happiness. How stupid, Hatano reacts, the children in the kindergarten and Mashiba are enough to exhaust him. For the first time, Hatano takes initiative to lick him. They have sweet and gentle sex. Hatano is still very insecure, but Mashiba assures him that Ikawa and him is something from the past, and while looking in his eyes, Hatano feels secured, just by the passion in Mashiba's eyes. May he always look at him with those eyes...

Gay penguins are good parents

A few posts down I wrote something about gay penguins. I came on that article when I stumbled on a more recent one, about a gay penguincouple stealing eggs in a Chinese Zoo. They were secluded from their colony after this deed. The zoo got protests of those animal activists, and they were finally given 2 eggs and turned out to be very good fathers. Oh well, read the article yourself ^_^ About all those homophobes who argument that homosexuality is against nature, once again, a counterproof!

Gay swans

I admit, after noticing the last article by luck (about the gay penguins), I was fascinated by other gay animals, and first thing I did afterwards, was searching for swans. As some of you may know. swans (+ geese and other animals I don't know of) pair for life (with a divorce rate of 6%), what do you think of this little article? There are other gay animals featured on that site, but I was more interested in the swans because of the "one partner for life"-attitude. (the penguin is on page 9)
After reading this, don't you suspect that most of the BL plots are stolen from the animal kingdom? XD
At least the "alpha"-attitude of the BL seme can be explained from their animalistic nature, harharhar

Here's a little story:

Imagine this:
Pachi and Butano, two made-up names derived from the swans' ones, are a loving couple. Pachi was like a fatherfigure for Butano, who took care of Butano after his parents died of eh... of an aircrash. Yes an aircrash, most of the parents die of aircrashes or caraccidents isn't that right? Anyhow, Pachi felt guilty, as it was his brother who put decafeine instead of cafeine coffee on the plane, which is how the pilotes fell asleep without their cafeine doses. Pachi didn't take responsibility for the other dead passengers' familymembers, as he wasn't THAT rich. He chose Butano because he was looking for a boy-toy anyway.
Twenty years pass, ofcourse Pachi took advantage of his position, and *** Butano. Butano didn't know any better, and he firmly believed he was in love with Pachi. He would never discover the truth behind his parents' dead, and there would be never an angsty tum-tum-tum-confrontation between Pachi and Butano.
One day, Pachi was walking on a road, when a car fell on him, yes fell, a crane holding a car lost electricity. By miracle, he didn't die, but turned blind in one eye, and the first symptoms of senility were appearing. In the end, he died of the complications, despite the loving care of Butano, and leaved Butano alone in this cold world.
However, a whole new warm world opened for Butano already after a few weeks! He didn't know he was so very attractive, as Pachi was very dominating, in such sense, that nobody dared to come close. A fresh stud came by, and eventhough Pachi was still hesitating at first, after a passionate pursuit of 3 months, he embraced a new love in his life. He never forgot Pachi ofcourse, otherwise that would make Butano a bastard.

Gay penguins breaking up

It's an old article, Silo and Roy probably have already died. Still, after reading it, I really felt sorry for poor little Roy. Especially this sentence struck me:

"On Thursday, Roy, all alone, sat disconsolately at the edge of the penguin area, staring at the wall."

Or maybe Silo started to miss Roy after a while, and turned jealous when he saw Roy getting attention from the other (male) penguins. So, maybe 43,5 days after breaking up, he leaves the girl, and pleads to Roy to start over again. Angst all over, but in the end Roy forgives him. Then the woman turned pregnant, and Silo needs to choose between real parenthood or the love of his life. While still debating, a sealion enters their cage by accident, and the woman got eaten, right after she lay her eggs. Since all obstacles are gone, Roy and Silo live together and raise the baby penguins with the two of them...

Maybe I'm being too sentimental, or maybe I read too much BL.

To be away from Toshi and to put his thoughts together, Kyuu returns to the countryside. Toshi on his side, has a visitor, his little sister who can't wait to see Kyuu. When they arrive to the complex where Kyuu is living, they find out that Kyuu returned home. In an eating house, she asks Toshi whether Kyuu has someone he likes, Toshi answers most probably not. Behind Toshi the full moon is shining brightly, the same moon that Kyuu is gazing at. When getting inside, Kyuu wonders whether he would have another chance if he weren't that skinny. He then sees his father taking out his instrument. Kyuu asks why his father gave up on his dream of becoming a musician. With a little smile, father answers he didn't have the talent, but that Kyuu definitely has what it takes to fulfill his own dreams, if only he wasn't so stressed, so it's a good thing that he returned for a rest. A rest... Kyuu mutters, ofcourse that's one of the reasons of his return, but the main one is Toshi. Kyuu concludes in his bed, that even if he wasn't that skinny, nothing would have happened anyway.
At dinner, mother says she's relieved now how the colour on Kyuu's face has returned. Kyuu then asks whether she's worried about bro. Ofcourse she is, but Sumi was always good in hiding secrets, unlike Kyuu. Secrets, did Kyuu have them? He then thinks of the kisses with Toshi. In bed he reenacts what happened before, where Toshi's hands were, the lips... Kyuu is a healthy young guy... When relieved, one of Toshi's last words hit him, you suddenly coming over, is bothersome to me. Tears flow.
A lovely chapterpage, no crows, but white doves flying from Kyuu's chess, fitting the chaptertitle. ("The day of decision", roughly translated)
Mother is teaching Kyuu how to cook, and savours in being in his warm home, something he didn't realise before he was living alone, it's only when you lose it, you realise how much it means to you. Again, he stares to the stars, and thinks of Toshi, no matter when, he's always thinking of him. Back in the house, mother sends him to his room, his father went to pick the grandparents, and there will definitely be a fight. Flashback: Kyuu disturbing happy time of Sumi and Daiku. It was then that he becomes familiar with "homosexuality" and that two guys don't play "household".
In his room he got a short message from Toshi's little sister, they're both coming back! Kyuu panicks, and plays with the idea of fleeing back to the city. He goes to tell his mom, but then witnesses the fight. In the fight Sumi's name is mentioned, it turns out he hit a guy on the streets, and grandfather used his connections to seal the case up. The actual discussion is about turning their land into a recreation zone, to which father strongly opposes to.
After hearing this, Kyuu is a bit shaken. He ran away when he encountered only a bit of trouble, not aware of what his parents are facing. He thinks back of what his father just said, and realises his father is still hoping for Kyuu to take over his place. He falls asleep. Next day, he's disturbed by the visit of Toshi's sister. Luckily for Kyuu, Toshi didn't come, so he goes for a walk with her. Only outside, he notices the signs of protests for the building plans, and listens half to her words. Then she confesses to him. He apologises, and says he's unable to go out with her. He says this with Toshi in his mind. He wants to see him, no matter what happened, he still wants to see Toshi.
Little sister runs to her brother, with eyes like waterbags. She cries, and says that Kyuu apparently already had someone he loved. This leaves Toshi astonished, and with only one question: Who?

Toshi is really bothered who that person might be, and drives to Kyuu's home. Once there, he would have chickened out, if it wasn't for Kyuu coming out. Kyuu was planning to look for the stars on the mountain. Toshi offers to drive him, and left they are. On the road, they are blocked by a sign, apparently, constructions are about to start very soon. Kyuu gets angry, he's very opposed to the project. Toshi then asks, wouldn't you be more near to the stars if a skyscraper is built? Kyuu reveals that in his heart, he always thought eventhough everything else changes, at least his homeplace would never change.
They share coffee, and they talk, about the past and stupid stuff. After they finished the coffee, Toshi sends Kyuu home. Once back, they both wants to say something, Toshi begins. He doesn't have any special feelings for Sumi anymore so... then he asks what Kyuu has to say. It can wait for another time, and then they seperate. Kyuu walks straight to his father, he has decided to be the heritor afterall.
The baseballteam is celebrating their victory. Toshi and his senpai goes to some noodles store together, since they lost track of where the others are. Senpai is having a conversation with the boss about how to make the best ramen (love, it's love!), making Toshi remember that Kyuu also has someone he loves. That night, he didn't want to ruin the mood, so he didn't bring the topic up. But he's still very bothered, and regrets for not asking. Senpai continues talking, about how he gave up on baseball when he hurt his leg, yet in the end, still went to play, even if there was no chance to become a professional. Why, Toshi asks. The reason is, you can't decide what to love. Outside the ramen store, they catch up with the other players, they received tickets for some weird place (planetarium), and give them to Toshi. Toshi asks Kyuu out to the planetarium. Before turning the phone off, Kyuu slips in he became heavier (^_^). On the balcony, Kyuu makes a circle with his fingers around "star" Toshi (= windowlight where Toshi lives).
In the planetarium, a kid spills popcorn over Toshi, and like that, they got free snacks. In the middle of the performance, Toshi finds great pleasure in seeing Kyuu so mesmerised; just like the kid next to him. Kyuu even left his hand on Toshi's thigh! Maybe it's better like this, instead of seperating, perhaps it's good to act like a child himself, Toshi reasons. And then, later, there would be a day to tell him... damn... Toshi falls asleep.
Kyuu wakes Toshi up, and tells him to eat last of the popcorn (which he does). Outside, Kyuu runs to the animal store. A woman employer comes with a kitten in a box, and Kyuu can't resist to pet the animal. Seeing those two laughing together, Toshi walks away. Kyuu searches for him, and then Toshi asks whether it's that girl that he likes. Kyuu denies, saying he lied to his sister in order to refuse her. Toshi, totally relieved, laughs, ofcourse it's like that, it's still to early for Kyuu to be interested in love. This pisses Kyuu off, and Toshi apologises. He doesn't want any bad feelings between them anymore, because he decided to treasure his feelings for Kyuu. During that time, he can only bear with it. Afterall, the other is still a kid ^_^.
In the countryside, Sumi is throwing a bug at Daiku, to catch his attention. Just when they wanted to walk through a small lane in a forest, Sumi shivers up, he'll never take that road. Flashback, a boy walking on that road, got assaulted and... Sumi thinks "on that road, a part of me was killed". He doesn't remember the faces, but among them there was a guy with a black mark on his thigh, something he's unable to forget. So, he thought he saw that guy one day, and hit him. Sumi undressed the guy, but no mark was to be found. Thanks to connections, he was spared, but grandfather wanted to send him to an institute, considering Sumi as someone unstable. He prepares to run away from home, then his mom enters the room. She doesn't think Sumi is unstable and gives him some money for his trip. She then apologises and cries, for not being able to properly protect him. Since she apologised first he missed the opportunity to apologise himself.
In the past, Daiku would always come when Sumi skipped classes, this (a envelope) will be Sumi's thanks and compensation. Apparently it contains some papers that might endanger the project of his grandfather. How did Sumi get them? Well, apparently, someone in the family ordered him to do this.
Meanwhile, grandmother is playing with the kid, and looks unbelievable happy. Sumi gives Daiku the advice not to cheat on his wife, women can be scary when they're cheated on. In the train, Sumi thinks back of his first love, his first lost love, and wishes him happiness in silence.
In prepschool, Kyuu gets the advice to cut his hair. Initially he goes to some random stores, but the owners freak him out. In the end, he still has to call Toshi for a good place, as Toshi already went to a barber before (see volume 2). But, Toshi must prefer him with long hair, and in that state of mind, they meet. Major shock, as it turns out that's not the case at all. In fact, Toshi is quite eager to have Kyuu's hair cut short. Kyuu pouts a bit, but his mood quickly returns when Toshi reveals he thinks Kyuu is better suited for short hair.

Toshi: It's better to leave the nape of your neck open (...) During a meal they make plans, then Toshi asks whether he wants to go to the hot spring. Kyuu doesn't want to, because that way Toshi would see how skinny he still is.
Later, they return to their hometown, and have a good time on their way home. Once back, Kyuu is surprised by a radiant grandmother and a depressed grandfather. The plans for contructions have ceased, miraculously.
How to get some weight, Kyuu asks his father. Easy, drink beer! Kyuu ends up drunk, too late, and without firework on the place he promised to meet up with Toshi. They meet a goat, apparently, it's Daiku's goat. Toshi expresses a curiosity to Sumi's friend, and wants to personally send the goat to them. Kyuu however, is very opposed to the idea of them meeting, afterall, Daiku slept with Sumi, so he must be interested in guys, and he's afraid that Daiku might fall in love with Toshi. At that moment Daiku appears, he isn't offended by Kyuu's words though, but he does emphasize that he originally didn't fall for guys.
After Daiku leaves with the goat, Toshi wants an explanation, why he doesn't want Daiku falling for him. Kyuu lies, and says he prefers it if Toshi had a lover after his exams have ended.. Toshi understands, and then goes for a piss. Toshi reproaches himself, yet again he almost wanted to do something too much. Toshi finds Kyuu's slipper (that he lost earlier), and helps him wearing it. Kyuu, being overpowered by his own emotions, jumps around Toshi's neck and thanks him. They kiss. When Toshi moves his hand lower to Kyuu's back, Kyuu pushes him away, remembering the words about him being skinny. Toshi apologises, and leaves. Kyuu looks away, and mutters he loves Toshi. But only the wind and trees have heard those words...
Kyuu returns home, and plays with the fireworks with his "little brother". At first, the kid was afraid, but when he got used to it, he becomes very passionated about the fire. "I'm the same," Kyuu thinks, to be afraid of anything new. In bed, Kyuu's resolved to say whatever is in his heart next time.
In the city, Toshi is playing in the baseballteam. He tries to forget what happened before with Kyuu by physical activity. When Toshi goes to fetch an escaped ball, he meets Sumi, who just visited the gaybar. Sumi has cut his hair, and is doing honest work, leaving Toshi speechless.
Mother receives post, it's from Sumi. He didn't use the money that his mom sent to him, and returns it, together with a thanks. Mom thinks of how her two sticky children have grown up, and is grateful for the little kid in house.
Kyuu has finished his exams, and goes to Toshi's place. He requests Toshi to give him the remaining days of March, to play and eat together. Sounds like a date, Toshi says, and he agrees. Kyuu is very happy, making Toshi a bit taken aback, doesn't Kyuu know the meaning of "date? Ofcourse Kyuu knows, he loves Toshi.
Kyuu: (I said it... and it even sounded very natural...) [but...]
Kyuu: (There's no reaction from him)
Kyuu: That's why,// I...
Kyuu: (I'm about to cry...)
Kyuu: How about you?
*They're disturbed by the neighbours, and proceed the conversation inside.*
Kyuu: Toshi... what's your answer?
Toshi: ...I love you too. But I think, the meanings of our "love" aren't the same.
Kyuu: That's why you can't date me?
Toshi: Just then (*the date*), that was a joke.
Kyuu: A joke?! How can you say out such a thing? I was actually serious, I wasn't kidding around at all! I was seriously confessing to you, and then you even made fun of me?
*an arrow appears above Toshi's head*
Toshi: (No way... can it be...) (No, I got to confirm properly.)
Toshi: I... the "love" that I mean is... about... the "love" that features the flesh.
Toshi: (No way no way no way?)
Toshi: (Because of expectation my heart is beating like crazy.) (Feels like I'm about to cry.) and Kyuu?
Kyuu: It's the same to me.
Toshi: The same? Is that so? Haha...
*leans closer*
Kyuu: But I... haven't put on much weight. So compared to brother...
Toshi: Stop that! If you say something like you're ok being Sumi's substitute, I'll slap you!
Kyuu: I... don't want to be brother's... substitute.
Toshi: (The string of the bow was stretched to the fullest in one move, that the arrow on that string would be this firm, piercing through my heart.)
...
15 pages honeymoon :XD: During the scene, Kyuu complains it tickles, Kyuu's turns smaller when Toshi attempts a handjob. Toshi thinks Kyuu looks pitiful, but finds him very cute at the same time. At one point (rubbing against each other) Kyuu invites Toshi to "put it in". (fastforward 5 pages)
Kyuu: ... ~Don't know whether it was any good.
Kyuu: ~Because it was my first time, I wasn't able to take initiave. I hope Toshi didn't feel unsatisfied about it.
*Toshi is trembling*
Kyuu:... Toshi?
Kyuu: Why... why are you crying?
Toshi: Stupid, I'm crying of joy ofcourse.
Kyuu: *tears*
(Those three weeks were spent somewhat like that, and every time Toshi would cry this miserably.)

In the epilogue, they're going out, and look for a new place for Kyuu, as his new university will be a bit further away. As Kyuu isn't very practical, Toshi helped out quite a lot. Kyuu settles down and look from the window. Toshi's room isn't near anymore, but he's still under the same sky. Toshi is saving for a motorbike, the owner then promises if Toshi gets his license, he'll give him his old one. Then Toshi remembers he originally bought the scooter to have Kyuu lean on him on the backseat. Meanwhile, he'll continue to take public transport to visit Kyuu. In the train, he loses something in his pocket. Toshi doesn't realise that it's Sumi, who returns what Toshi has lost. Only thing he has in mind was, that he found the guy (which was Sumi) looking so much like Kyuu, but that he must be mistaken, as he sees Kyuu in everyone, and that there's only one Kyuu for him in this world.
Later, he has his motorbike, and tries to find Kyuu's place. He wants to hurry, but then realises there is no need to, because his Kyuu is waiting on a place closer than the moon in the sky.
Omake:
Kyuu: Something I'm unsatisfied with with Toshi?
Kyuu:( To be honest, there is. Eventhough there are frequently phonecalls and short messages...)
Kyuu: It's Toshi's short message!
Kyuu: (Upon meeting, he always shows a quite happy face.)
Toshi: Here's some chicken for you to eat!
Kyuu: (And he'd cook for me.)
Kyuu: [but..]
*Toshi is wiggling*
[watching a movie]
Toshi: Kyuu, isn't it about time to go to bed?
Kyuu: It's only 8 o'clock now...
*arrow Kyuu's eyes*
Kyuu: (Eventhough I know, even if I'm unsatisfied with it, this can never be solved.)
Kyuu: (Too big! It's really too big!)
Toshi: I'm taking a shower first.
Kyuu: (His *** is so huge, it's making me feel uncomfortable.)
Kyuu: (Isn't there a way to make it smaller? Even if it was just a tiny bit smaller, I'd be very happy...)
The mangaka writes that there MIGHT be a continuation of Sumi's story, but she's not very sure.

I loved it. I loved it how every event has a purpose that returns. I loved the returning symbols. I loved the goofiness of the seme, and above all, I loved the fluffiness and cuteness.

Kyuu's parents, especially the mother, are wonderful. She truly loves her children, even if they're not perfect, she sticks to them through the end. I felt so much motherly love from her. The payback of granny was fantastic too, ofcourse she'd be pissed to be cheated on! Go girl!
Sumi's case it to be pitied. He has many lovers, but is so lonely. Only now he has closed a chapter in his life, but he'll never forget his first love. Also, the stains of the rape will always be with him. He doesn't trust people so easily, and truly thinks he only can rely on himself when in trouble. I think he tries to forget his loneliness by being with other people, and ofcourse it feels good, but to share a bond surpassing a physical one must be so hard for him. I hope the mangaka continues with such deep stories, as her earlier ones were published in Zettaireido, and some of you know what kind of magazines those are XD
Luckily, there was a happy story that countered Sumi's dark one. Sumi might know they had a happe end, as he met a blissful Toshi in a train, and the latter didn't even recognise him. I'm repeating myself, but I like Toshi very much. He's sweet and caring, yet goofy and gullible. He's not perfect, which is the exact reason why I developed a fondness for him. One of my moe-points are embarassed, stupid seme's ^__^ Kyuu is ok too, he looks like an everyday uke, but has a dark side, isn't afraid of confrontations, and always honest to himself.

Mmmm.. it this was to be dramatised... at first I was opposed to the idea, since the charm of this manga lies for a big part on the art and style, they give such a delicious dark feeling. But if added with a fitting backgroundmusic, and they use SFX for the symbols, I think it can be solved.
For Kyuu, imagewise, I think Fukuyama Jun or Suzumura Kenichi would be the one. But, personalitywise, Takeuchi Ken would probably be better. ~~Not to forget, the best uke in whole seiyuu-world, Toriumi Kousuke!~~

Sumi's and Kyuu's voice must be alike, but if not taken account of that: Nakamura Yuuichi, Yusa Kouji, ...

[Manga] Son of Mimura family series 1 & 2

~~Yes! The ending has reached, and it didn't dissatisfy me at ALL! I'll summarise volume 3 one of these days.~~

Originally, I planned to only review the last volume, but I forgot what happened in the previous ones, and started to read them again. I was struck by the awesomeness, and decided to review the whole series ^_^

The first volume has been scanlated by Nakama, and introduced me to this wonderful series. The plot is simple, the interrelationships between characters aren't. The manga takes it's time to show the reader their past, and by doing so, it explains how the characters grew up to who they are now. It's filled with symbols and daily life, that all contribute to the story and big events. Nothing comes as a surprise, the mangaka takes it's reader serious. Everything is part of a whole.
The story is wrapped in a cloud of mystery. What really happened, what's going to happen. It starts good, the buildup is slow but meaningful, and the mangaka takes her time to end the story.
What makes this manga also stand out, is the art. It's dark, it's raw, it pierces through your skin. The mangaka used her techniques well to obtain certain effects. There are a lot of close-ups that will stir you up. It softens up a bit with each volume, but the hard edges are never gone.
Having said that, it's not a totally dark series. There are a lot of cute moe moments too. The creator makes use of cute chibi's and little children, and some scenes are simply adorable.

My summaries doesn't do this serie any justice. There are too many details and symbols, and they can be interpreted differently as I have.

Mangaka: Meiji Kanako
Mimuro no Musuko

Volume 1
The story is set in the countryside. Kyuu, second son of the rich Mimura family, and Toshi are childhoodfriends. In puberty Toshi develops feelings for Kyuu, who's dense and not very interested in love. One day Toshi encounters Sumi, eldest of the Mimura family who ran away from home after an incident. Sumi was quite infamous, being known in the little village as the gay guy. Toshi has sex with Sumi, who looks and sounds so much like Kyuu. Sumi leaves, making Toshi promise not to tell Kyuu they have met. Afterall, Kyuu is desperate to find Sumi so that Sumi takes over the familybusiness. Kyuu is passionated about the stars, and wants to study astrology. His grandfather however has decided for Kyuu to be the heritor.
Toshi and Kyuu meet up, Kyuu heard that Toshi and Sumi were seen together. Toshi denies, and almost screws up after a slip of tongue. The symbolic arrow, the meaning of Kyuu's (Yumi) other name, is pointed at him. Then we shift over to Kyuu's perspective.
Earlier, Kyuu was over at the temple to pray for Sumi's return. His memories of his brother are complex. Sumi used to tease Kyuu a lot, about corpses being burried in the mountain that their family owns, which is why there are so many crows. The concept of "crow", will return in the story many times.
Kyuu also has dark thoughts, ppl he'd like to bury in the mountain, to only immediately reproach himself.

He compares himself a lot with Sumi, he thinks they are alike, and isn't happy with that.
When he hears that Toshi was seen with Sumi, he confronts him.

Toshi doesn't look him in his eyes and act suspicious. After hearing Kyuu's sad words about not wanting to give up his dream, Toshi decides to call Sumi. Sumi was busy however with some guy, and one month later, he visits Toshi. Sumi wanted to do it again, but Toshi refuses. Sumi then teases Toshi about the hopelessness of his infatuation with Kyuu, Toshi, being a bit annoyed, then asks whether Sumi has someone he loves. Sumi says he does, he's on the same boat. Gullible as Toshi is, he's touched, and finally they do end in bed ^^;. In the afterglow, Sumi thinks the sex really is good, and thinks he should make Toshi like him, Toshi immediately make Sumi give up that idea with the thoughtless remark that his hair grows in the same direction... as Kyuu, making Sumi realise what an idiot Toshi really is. Since Sumi is quite a devious guy, he tells Toshi to find someone else, as Kyuu must marry and take over the family. Major shock when it turns out that the grandfather planted a child with another woman, and that the woman left the kid in their family. So, with a new possible heritor, Kyuu is free!
Kyuu and Toshi both need to take exams to enter university. Because of what happened in the past, that made Toshi expell temporarily from school, Kyuu feels responsible for Toshi's schoolwork and helps as much as he can, coming to Toshi's studyroom. Kyuu lays in Toshi's bed, the bed where Toshi slept with Sumi a while ago. Toshi doesn't like it, and they stop studying. On their way home, Kyuu notices how distant Toshi has become, and they start to talk about Sumi, who didn't like to touch (too). Kyuu becomes even more suspicious with the reaction that Toshi has by hearing his brother's name. Once in their respective homes, they reflect on each other and gaze to the stars. One day, they're at Toshi's studyplace again, they fall asleep under the kotatsu. Toshi's telephone rings, and Kyuu answers the phone, hearing his brother's voice. He confronts Toshi. Toshi blurs out he likes Sumi, and that he's gay, stupifying Kyuu. Toshi ofcourse doesn't want to continue the conversation, and throws bavk Kyuu's old words how talking about love is a waste of time. Kyuu doesn't take that answer, and says that anyone is ok, except for his brother, who's the most awful guy around. Angrily, Toshi asks whether Kyuu would be alright then, since they look and sound almost the same. Kyuu does agree to be a substitute, but Toshi waves it away as a joke, and that he'll be able to find someone else after highschool. Kyuu, in all confusion, then is told to leave if he isn't interested in studying. The feathers of the crow float around him, the bright stars that normally sooth him, he can not see.

The other chapters are oneshots, and they're quite good I must say, give them a try.

Deki no Waruiko

Volume 2
On his way home, Kyuu thinks back of what happened. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. They have known each other for 10 years, normally, he should be the one to understand Toshi the best. Now he's losing to his brother, whom Toshi only met a few times? How can Toshi not see through Sumi's devilish schemes? Then Kyuu realises, when they enter university, Toshi is free to meet Sumi whenever he wants. Kyuu looks in the mirror, comparing himself to his brother. They look a lot like each other. His plan is formed; he'll seduce Toshi.
But, it's easier said than done. Toshi says he doesn't need Kyuu teaching him anymore, Kyuu's presence would only distract him. Kyuu thinks back of their childhood, when Toshi said how easy to understand Kyuu's teachings were. What Toshi just said, is a lie right? Then he notices that Toshi left him behind. Kyuu makes a run, but trips, and misses his train. At the trainstop, it turns out Toshi was waiting for him.
In school, he gets the advice of a teacher to try more than one school. Kyuu answers he has confidence that he'll pass. The teacher laughs, and says he's a lot like his brother, who also had that much confidence. This enrages Kyuu, as he chose that particular school to avoid his brother's shadow. In flashbacks, we see he has an inferior complex towards Sumi, who made fun of "stupid Kyuu", since Sumi was an all-talented lad. In a conversation of young Toshi and Kyuu, Toshi asks why Kyuu chose a highschool beneath him, was it for him? Kyuu answers not wholly, but Toshi misunderstands and shows a happy (side)face (cutecutecute).
On his way back, Kyuu realises, there isn't much opportunity to be alone to seduce Toshi. Being the scatterbrain he is, he walks to Toshi's studyplace, and ends up sleeping under the kotatsu again.
Kyuu's mom went to a hotspring, and then he comes with a great plan: he'll invite Toshi and seduce him! Toshi answers he must first take his exams, then he'll go anywhere where Kyuu wants. Toshi is able to enter the university of his first choice, and he comes by. They go to the hotspring, with Toshi thinking "Did Kyuu always like hotsprings this much?"
Bad idea, hotsprings means no clothes, and Kyuu with no clothes means a hard Toshi. So, under the pretense of "going to take a piss", he takes care of his business. When Toshi enters the spring, Kyuu can't help but notice "a big part" , and then remembers his original plan, to seduce Toshi. As some insensitive moron, Kyuu asks to see it erect.... *splash* failure...

After the hotspring, Kyuu got a fever, and worse, his exams were two days later. On the train to the examination place, he falls asleep. Luckily, Sumi is there, he wakes his little brother up and pushes him out of the train. Before Kyuu realised what truly happened, the doors closes, and his brother is gone.
During the examination, Kyuu can't concentrate due to the fever. He returns home, crawls in bed, and cries.
Toshi wasn't very worried all that time, since he was sure that Kyuu would pass. Then he hears from his mother that Kyuu failed the test.
However, they do go to the same city together. Toshi as a university student, and Kyuu as a prep school student. Kyuu's place is huge, a rich family's son worthy, and Toshi is living near, so everything should be sweet and nice... if it weren't for Toshi's decision to keep a distance from Kyuu. The reason why Kyuu was allowed to continue his studies, was thanks to his granny, who was menacing her unfaithful husband, with his son in her arms.
When Toshi returns home, Kyuu calls Toshi, saying he forgot those jobadvertisement mangazines. Toshi thinks "Luckily, it wasn't porn".
Kyuu is very bad in housemanagement, as a pampered rich boy, he never cooked before. His great mom sends foodpackages, and he's able to survive for the time being. He calls Toshi to share, but Toshi's number changed. Kyuu remembers Toshi warning him about it before, and he's happy, cause that way Sumi won't be able to contact Toshi. Unfortunately, Sumi is cunning, he calls Toshi's parents, and asks Toshi's new number under Kyuu's identitiy. By doing so, Sumi discovers that his stupid lil brother flunked.
Kyuu goes to Toshi's place, and sees that he has cut his hair. It's weird, and Kyuu feels he's like a different person. He then leaves, but before doing so, he gets Toshi's mobile number.
Later, Kyuu receives another package, and calls Toshi. Toshi says he also got one, because someone in their village got married, a certain Daiku (???), did Kyuu know him? Kyuu knows him, it's a friend of his brother.
They both start their new lives, the teachers are good, but Kyuu feels something is missing. Same for Toshi, he at first innocently imagined it'd be filled with clubs searching for members, but the reality isnt like that. Something is missing for him too. He finds work, and doesn't have much free time left anymore.
Kyuu, unable to cook himself, goes to fastfood places, and when he gets a phonecall from his mom, he realises he doesn't have any friends except for Toshi, and it's that what he's missing. He's lonely, and calls to Toshi whether he can visit him. Toshi, who really wants to keep his distance, sends he's tired, so maybe another time.
So, what's big bro doing? Screwing a random guy ofcourse! An old lover appears, and tries to stab "unfaithful" Sumi. Sumi is strong however, and with bare hands he beats the guy. When the guy he was screwing with, remarks he's strong, Sumi answers that when bad things happen, you only have yourself to rely on.
Kyuu is having bad dreams of Toshi making many friends and having fun, leaving Kyuu behind. Kyuu tries to make friends in prep school, but he's unable of smalltalk, and decides that the most important thing is studying afterall.
Toshi is starting to get a bit worried, as Kyuu hasn't been sending messages for a week. Just when he decides to call him, Sumi appears. When they're inside Toshi's room, he tells Sumi that his friend got married. This visibly shocks Sumi, and Toshi isn't sure what to do. He prepares a meal for Sumi, and Sumi says he's quite a good cook. When he left home, the hardest part was food. Kyuu calls, and due to his shock, Toshi tells him off in a very not nice way. Sumi then wants to leave, surprising Toshi as he was expecting something else (so easy to see through XD).

Sumi then writes the adress of a bar that's filled with ppl "like them". Before he leaves, he says it's no wonder that Kyuu is so attached to Toshi, Toshi is the eldest in his family, and Kyuu always had a brother complex.
Kyuu wasn't eating well, and called Toshi for that reason. When Toshi called him off, he felt truly lonely, as that was the first time he wasn't Toshi's nr 1 priority anymore. Even when Toshi had a girlfriend, Toshi still dropped everything for him.
Next day, Toshi goes to that bar, a bit afraid, when suddenly a senpai of work pops up, saying he knew it that Toshi was "one of them", and asks whether he should go with him. Toshi, at first taken aback, gratefully accept the offer to only... arrive in a baseball field. Yes, senpai knew Toshi was one of the baseball lovers! (poor Toshi....XD)
Kyuu is visiting the planetarium. In the city, the stars aren't visible due to fog, and watching the stars always calms him down. He perceives an animalshop, and wants to touch them. But they're barred by glas. It's lonely. He goes to where Toshi works, but finds out it's closed! So Toshi must be free right? He runs to that guy's room.
Toshi sees a silhouette and thinks it's Sumi at first. Toshi isn't very thrilled to see Kyuu, and he doesn't hide it. Kyuu should have called first, because Toshi has his own life now, what if he wasn't there? Kyuu responds that he was afraid that Toshi would refuse letting him come over if he called. Toshi cooks a meal with the ingredients that Kyuu took with him. He notices that Kyuu lost weight and asks. Kyuu did lose weight, saying the food doesn't suit his taste. Then Toshi remembers that it was the same with Sumi. When Kyuu goes to get some water, he sees a note (of the gaybar adress) in his brother's handwriting. Kyuu confronts Toshi, Toshi coldly answers it's none of Kyuu's business, and that it only concerns him and Sumi. Kyuu then remembers of his warm home, where they grew the vegetables that they're eating now. He doesn't have a place anymore in Toshi's world and he cries. Toshi is torn, he wants to touch Kyuu, flashbacks come back. When they accidently touched on their way home, the intertwined feet under the kotatsu, and when Kyuu tripped and missed the train. He couldn't not care about him, as if he wanted Kyuu to catch up with him, always always, from the very beginning. Toshi holds him. Kyuu is surprised, but put his arms around Toshi's back. Toshi then thinks it's a sign, and kisses him. When he wants to tell him his true feelings, Kyuu interferes and says he understands, and that it's ok to be his bro's substitute. This clearly angers Toshi, he attacks, only to find ribs beneath Kyuu's clothes, and he can't continue.

He tells Kyuu he's so skinny, how can he possibly be a good substitute for Sumi? Kyuu offers to keep his clothes, but to no avail.
Toshi decides in the end, as if Kyuu is the moon (gravity), he's unable to leave Kyuu's side.

Don't judge dramacds by the author...

That was one of the methods I used for picking a dramacd. If I found one I liked, I'd skim for all other dramacds based on novels by the same author. If I didn't like it, I'd skim them too, but would vow never listen to them. Well, I'll be breaking with this habit! Because I found that in case 1: it's not always good, and in case 2: they're not all bad!

Case2: Sakiya Haruhi
There was a time, that I've been avoiding this Sakiya Haruhi's works like a disease. Through the translation of Suzume posted in tanbi_, I became acquainted with Answer. In the beginning, I really enjoyed it. It was a guilty pleasure, I knew it wasn't good, but went along with the premise. My opinion hasn't changed much, and I'm looking forward for the rest of the translations. In short, I didn't have a bad first impression of her.
But then! I landed on a blcd review site, and read some summaries of a few of her works (Amai Yuuten and Neijirata Edge); hated them, and was utterly disgusted. The reviewer liked them, but I just hated such stories. So, by only basing on the storylines, I didn't try them and immediately categorised them and the author as "bad", treating Answer as a guilty pleasure. It took a year and a recommandation of a friend that I tried the much praised Shinayakana series. Which was surprisingly good, no thanks to the actual story though. Miki Shinichirou is one of my fav seiyuu, and through Kotonoha no Hana I came to appreciate Kamiya Hiroshi. The characters were very likable, and the development was surprisingly good. Yet, I still wasn't fully convinced and still condemned that author as bad. The change came when I randomly downloaded a dramacd and a manga that I ended up adoring them. I loved the awkwardness in Kimi to Te wo Tsunaide and Koi wa Ranhansha Suru. They're both very sensitive described, and in Kimi to Te wo Tsunaide, I couldn't help but find the voice that Takeuchi Ken used.... cute cute cute! Despite him being such a useless bum, I actually came to like the uke.
In Koi wa Ranhansa Suru, it was the gorgeous art that caught me first, but then I became touched by how they're both such cowards, and how they both try so heart to stay unhurt, yet they end up hurting them-selves even more. I became tired of the endless love-at-first-sights and courageous love-confessions. Because, when you're serious, aren't they really hard to make? I'll maybe review Koi wa Ranhansa Suru, and hope that a scanlator is interested in this manga ^_^. (hopefully it will be dramatised too!)
Anyway, after discovering who the author was, I changed my mind about her and reconciled with this author.

Case1: Kouzuki Matsuri and Fushino Michiru
Respectively authors of my fav-nr2 and fav-nr1 dramacd. About the first one: I can't say much as only her comedies are dramatised, and I still like them. However, I've read some reviews of her novels afterwards, and I must say, her dramas sound downright silly and unconvincing. They fit in comedies, but in serious stories...? No thanks!
Fushino Michiru has written several spirit-like stories, and unfortunately, I don't like those. Her other work, Tsukuru Shounen, Kuu Otoko, wasn't my type of story as well, though I must admit, that the build-up was as good as Migite ni Mesu.

I still think it's a good method to choose which dramacds to listen to though, I only must be careful not to judge an author by 1 or 2 of her books.

Pairing: Okiayu Ryoutarou x Suzumura Kenichi (Enami Kousuke x Eifuku Atsuomi)
Rating: 10/10

Well, I thought I should take it easy for my first review (this ended in fangirling though XD), and start with a drama-cd that has already been translated in English. That way I don't need to give a summary, and make less Eng mistakes (hopefully). See right bar with links "Namona drama translations" to find a summary and the translation. I'll be referring Eifuku by his first name "Atsuomi", as that's the way Enami calls him, and to avoid confusion as their names both start with E. No helping about it, they followed each other up alphabetically in university.

It's a very simple story about how two friends become lovers, all catalysed by a rape. Sounds so typical right? I totally agree. But think about it, how many simple stories are done right? I can't speak for others, but I don't care for great plots and twists and whatever, all I want are two types of stories: those that can touch my moe-points and have characters who stay true to their-selves instead of going the way the author wants them to go. And those who just simply amuse me, by their outrageousness, or because of the comedy. In my opinion, Migite ni Mesu belongs to the first type.
Not only does this dramacd cover my favourite theme (friends->lovers), there are so many moe-moments and the seiyuu of the main-couple have such great chemistry. The story is so sweet and so very sincere, I like it that it's not plot-driven, but more character-driven. They stay loyal to their personalities, likable, but still not perfect. I listen to the drama-cds of this serie over and over again, and everytime I find something new, or look it through another perspective. I blame it on the simpleness of the story, since there are no adventures to pounder about here :D

Story and characters
To be frank, Migite doesn't stand much out compared with other titles. It doesn't in the first series, and it won't change in the later ones. The characters aren't tormented bishies with an angsty past, there are no kinky sex positions, nada. The story is very straightforward and predictible. What I absolutely love, is the buildup. The cd takes her time in showing how close they are as friends, instead starting with a sensational rape. The listener "feels" the love for Atsuomi in these adorable slips of Enami and we also realise how important Enami is for Atsuomi as a friend, no, as his best friend. Their relationship isn't a word only.
That Atsuomi was clueless about Enami's feelings, well, there were times that Atsuomi could have guessed them if he reflected and inquired more. But, if you're the subject of love, and the other party has a terrible temper, it's not wise to ask those penible questions. The cliche of a guy losing control and raping his best friend... well, I thought it was lame in Aikagi ("brothers" though), but totally bought it in Migite. Enami has always been more aggressive when he had a drink, and in the later volumes, he's still the same, even becoming a bit violent! This is what I meant with character-driven, the cliche events aren't put for the sake of having an angsty story. What I didn't like too much is the tragedy after the rape, that seems to have soften the uke's heart. Ofcourse it's a given, that after an unrequited love of 9 years you end up getting hated, would affect one's profession and condition... but getting as far as aids? It's a good thing that such a serious topic is handled, and I agree that a simple fainting would be less spectacular, still, aids is just a bit too farfetched. I bet, even if that didn't happen, Atsuomi would have forgiven Enami by time, just because of how much Enami means to him. I liked it how Atsuomi didn't immediately forgive Enami just because he was unlucky. Three months had to pass before Atsuomi could make a firm decision, and to not come with halfassed feelings of pity. It amused me how fast Enami went through with his feelings of guilt. He realised he did something horrible, but I had the impression he only regretted it because
1) he would be hated
2) he didn't properly "prepare" Atsuomi
When there was the chance to be forgiven, he immediately jumped on the opportunity instead of engulfing himself in self-sacrifice, dwelling on that as a beast he doesn't deserve happiness blabla (dragging the story on and on as the result). Well, throughout the later volumes we'll see he really is a selfish lad XD Begone, the heroic self-sacrificing semes!
What I also liked is the fact that there was no sudden realisation of love from the uke. He only agreed to try viewing Enami in another way. But I think this wouldn't have worked if Atsuomi didn't have such a personality; the way how Atsuomi regards love isn't so absolute, I'm thinking about how he was planning to marry his highschool-sweetheart, whom he wasn't even so close to. In the next volume, he does realise he loves Enami, though I think his reasoning is a bit lame.

Their age is perfect for me, not too young to be annoying credible mature (ya know, those highschool settings with these super mature semes) and not too old to be too experienced in love. The women are for once strong and likable (except serie2), and the H scenes are very steamy. All by all, the story was as good as perfect. What I'm lamenting is that I have the impression it's a summary of the novel, and through all the cd's their smex will be more or less the same >.< It's still intense, and there's a lot of pillow talk (luckily not like those often done "seme bullying uke"-H scenes), but the forplay will always be limited to caresses, kisses and some "fingerpreparing", and it will always be the missionary position.
I don't know whether to like this or find it annoying, in the end of every cd Atsuomi has a serious, yet sweet and a bit too understanding talk with Enami about their relationship. I like it that they talk a lot, but I find it's not realistic for ppl to have such a clear view on their own relationship. I noticed that Enami always thanks his lover in every cd, most of the time in the last track, which is just too moe! One hears the respect and how he's still head over heals for his lover. Grosso modo, they're equals, which are the best yaoi couple for me.

Backgroundmusic & SFX
The first dramacd has this nostalgic swung that fits the narration of Atsuomi. Every dramacd has a different bgm, and they all are nice and don't disturb the flow of the story. In fact, I would have accepted if the series stopped at the fifth installment, because the ending was done perfectly. (l don't mind a sixth installment though >D) SFX... not always as great... but meh, I can disregard that.

Seiyuu
Waaaaaah !!! MuraKen did a good job, I don't know how the novel was, but I liked his Atsuomi. Sometimes a bit dense, yet capable. He has a soft heart, but is, when angered really shorttempered and loses control over his good sense. He can be a bit violent, but can after reflection admit his mistakes.
The one who really impressed me, was Okki!!! I'm not too familiar with the Kansai accent, so I can't judge the whole speech etc, but I loved his Enami XD Especially the scenes where he's a bit embarassed and is so much of a doggy fufufufu >D. He was arrogant, but sometimes so adorably unsure, Okki did a great job in conveying those feelings. *nods* To me, Oki is better off as a seme :3 When I was a complete draman00b and didn't check out seiyuu, the first one I listened to that starred Okki was the great Fujimi Orchestra series. The second was Shiawase ni Dekiru, that time I think my eyeballs fell out when I read that Morimura and Kuonji were voiced by the same seiyuu (didn't listen to the freetalks back then). Even now, I still have trouble with believing...

All by all, I can describe this series as a gentle stream, the two of them face troubles and problems like any other couple. Communicationproblems, coming out, meeting the parents, professional issues,... but whatever they are, they face them together :-)

m(_ _)m Sorry for making promises and not keeping them. To those who are following the dramascene, they know I've been more active in that world compared to manga. It's not that I've lost complete interest in manga, it's just I like dramacds much much more now ^^; I'll be dropping everything that I've put on current and future, and give my all in dramacd translations. I think there are hell a lot more scanlation groups, and their amount is sufficient to contribute to the Eng speaking mangaworld. I want to concentrate my energy on the too much neglected dramacds, hoping more ppl will be interested and fall in love with the voice-acting of the talented seiyuu like I did. Since Kariya only dated girls and is a precious friend, Satoshi hides his feelings. When they both visit Satoshi's favourite gay bar, they meet Kazumi, a young writer, and Satoshi's last boyfriend who hurt him many times, Udo. A few days later, Kariya asks for advice from his senpai and confesses that he may be gay... and that he's in love with the cute Kazumi... breaking Satoshi's heart.

Amano loves chocolate, one day in the train he perceives a wonderful chocolate flavour from a handsome man. He meets the guy again when he enters a chocolate business with a colleague, and he discovers that the guy is Nagata, owner and chocolatier. They get acquainted, and Nagata even lets Amano take an interview. After the interview, Nagata lures Amano to his house with homemade chocolate...
Ofcourse Amano gets eaten alive, since Nagata is convinced Amano is gay and has been seducing him. Nagata kind of holds Amano captive in his house, and Amano ends up quitting his old job and becoming Nagata's apprentice. Their relationship has their own ups and downs, the downs including Nagata's odd sidejob (waxing "new halfs"), an overworked schedule and finally an older brother, who molested Nagata when he was young. Nice detail: since Amano expressed his loneliness, Nagata had a replicum *toy* custom made

Damashi Uchi Daze DR
Kumata Kaoru is a cute nurse in a busy hospital amidst girl nurses who gossip about the handsome doctors. Eventhough he's been there for 5 years, no relationship ever fruitens because of his unmanly looks. Ofcourse there is this new, popular but stoic doctor he doesn't know how to get along with. And well... stuff happens ^^;
After one of those exhausting days, Dr. Shiba offers to send the tired Kumata home. Kumata falls asleep in the car, and when he wakes up, he and Shiba are in the middle of a sexscene, scaring the hell out of our poor uke! Apparently, Shiba believed Kumata had been seducing him, with things like sitting on Shiba's hand in the taxi (Kumata was late and Shiba just put his hand on the only available free place), Kumata spontaniously removing his clothes in his clinic (since Kumata wouldn't believe that Shiba could just determine his stomach ache by examining his hands only) and lastly, Kumata leaving (forgetting) his necktie.
Kumata just goes with the flow, life goes on in the hospital, like a pregnant nurse who was having an affair with a married doctor, and another doctor who jokingly puts a kissmark on Kumata (=> jealous seme )

Gakuen Empera ~Itoshite Miyagare!
On his 35th birthday, chief Kazuma Kaoru of a policestation receives a bouquet of flowers. However, this poisonous present contained a bomb, sent by "Devil Cell", the terrorist group they were trying to capture. Luckily, Kazuma's brain remained intact, and with the help of a mad scientist, his brain was transferred to a frail 17year old body. With his new identity, Kouenji Kaoru tries to start over life in a private all boys school. But on the first day, he's involved in a "Princess game" and got a kiss snatched away by the "Emperor"? How will the "Empress" react? Why does the new body yearn for sweets that much? And can Kaoru stay away from the crime scene?

Kimagure Chef no Koi no Recipe
Tomomi gave up on love after he was left behind by his lover three years ago. Now, in college, he agrees to help his friend Endou out to substitute him as a waiter in a French restaurant. However, once arriving he meets the chef cook he never thought would see again.

Kimishiru ya Unmei no Koi
During the early days of the Showa period Hinoguchi Natsu goes thru many hardships. Born from the union of the previous head and a maid he works as a servant in the house, and is openly laughed at by his classmates because of his 'aristocratic blood'. But as long his classmate Hidaka, who is the heir of the business that rivals the Hinoguchi's, doesn't detest him, he's fine. One day he finds out his brother blinded Hidaka and locked him in the cellar. His brother grants Natsu's wish to take care of Hidaka, and so the story goes on.

After the father left the Shinomiya-household, everything has gone downwards. The first volume tells how the abondended copes with their new situation: a mother who goes lunatic, twisted eldest brother Masaki, gentle Naoto, Sayaka who left home after discovering something horrible, and Yuuta, who refuses to leave the house. Heavyloaded, and a cry to the happy time that will never return. (incestwarning) Even it's the same couple, and also covers incest, the atmosphere is totally different compared with Papa to Kiss!
A pretty detailed summary down under since this story is worth it ^^
Track 1: starts with the happy familyscene: an ordinary housewife with 3 sons and 1 daughter, waiting for the father to celebrate Nao's 10th birthday. Then the drama: father won't return home.
Track 2: Nao returns earlier than expected, and hears someone H-ing with mother. Then he sees Masaki leaving the master's room. Masaki plays on Nao's familylove in order to appease the shocked Nao. But later on, Sayaka also discovers the horrible secret, yells that mother should just die, and runs away.
Track 3: Funeral of mother Shinomiya, with bystanders gossiping. Yuuta was 9, Nao 11, Sayaka 13 (absent) and Masaki 17 (wasn't described here though)
Track 4: Describing Nao's daily routine 3 years later: getting up early, preparing food that Yuuta refuses to eat, and hiding that fact from Masaki.
Track 5: Masaki, returning early from modeljob, discovers Yuuta hasn't been eating the food that Nao made, and had been fasting himself on ramen. In a fury Masaki reveals the reason why Sayaka left home, and threatens Yuuta that if he ever lands in a hospital (from malnutrition), he may never return to the Shinomiya house ever again. Yuuta accuses Masaki of only loving Nao, and Yuuta directly asks Nao why he didn't do anything when he discovered the secret. Nao then answers unlike Yuuta and Sayaka, no one had offered to take him in, and in only a few years, he'd graduate anyway. However, the real inner reason was because he didn't want to leave Masaki.
Track 6: Nao talking with schoolbuddies, revealing Nao's good schoolresults and how long Nao has to ride his bycicle to reach school.
Track 7: Masaki returning home, dead drunk, and when Nao undoes Masaki's clothes, Masaki suddenly kisses Nao and rapes him.
Track 8: Totally shocked Nao determines to pretend like nothing happened (the next morning Masaki kept apologising) and makes himself strong he only has a few years to go for him to graduate. But Masaki manipulates Nao to kisses, since kisses don't hurt right, and slowly goes further. Later, Nao tries to stop that sort of relationship, which only angers Masaki and makes him go all away. In one of their H-scenes, Yuuta complains in himself about the noise (yes, he knows) that keeps him awake. But Yuuta is determined not to leave the house as Sayaka. Masaki and Nao keeps H-ing, while Masaki saying he only needs Nao, and won't let him go.

Oniisan wa Seitokaichou
Just to Tomoharu's luck, nicknamed Chika, on the day he gets to meet his future stepfather and stepbrother, he breaks his glasses. Only when Ren sends Chika home, Chika realises this Ren is the same Ren from school: the student council president who seems to hate the nerdy Tomoharu? So that Ren won't stop the marriage of their parents, Chika must hide from Ren that he and Tomoharu are one and the same person!
Truth is, Ren never really hated Tomoharu, and when his best friend reveals he was going to confess to Tomoharu, Ren was quite supportive. But alas, his friend got dumped, and in the mean time Ren and Tomoharu get closer. The relationship between Chika and Ren however becomes colder. When Ren goes to visit Chika, Chika was wearing his mother's lipstick for fun, and Ren mistakes Chika for being a player. To top that, later on he sees Chika and the dangerous student council president of a rivaling school walking together. In the end, Chika passes out at home and Ren carries Chika to his room, discovering the uniform of his own school. Since 1 + 1 = 2, Ren scolds himself for his own stupidity and he kind of rapes Chika, while Chika wasn't aware of Ren knowing the truth. Ren goes off to the other president to be more clear about Chika, and the president turns out to be just a cousin. Ren returns, there's this whole love declaration and they live happily ever after, the end.

Tasogare no hana
Not much story, more slice of life, listening to this dramacd made me soo happy inside!!! ^____^.
A middle aged man,45, whose wife and kid only left memories and impotence behind after the divorce 10 years ago, tells his view on life, and has already embraced the lonely flow of life. Then Iwai helps the overworked Odohare,25, who's from the same bank company
and apparently gay. From the start he found the middle aged man truly beautiful and attractive and is determined to cure Iwai's impotence. I love the characters, but can't help but feel: waaaay too short, unnatural acceptance of H with a guy (even if he's a patient: at least struggle a bit! Don't talk in a relaxed way!) and H sounds unnatural.

Very very happiness
Moegi Nanami is a just a common highschool student, with the exception of his pretty girly looks. One day, 2 students of an elite highschool discovers Nanami and after a small investigation, they decide to make a bet:
They happen to have a rich naive (= stupid ) friend, Naka Ritsutaka, who lives secluded from "the real world", and Nanami happens to have their stoic friend's ideal face! Will Naka choose for Nanami, a guy? Or will Naka be patient and wait for Nanami's pretty little sister in grade school to grow up? In mean time Naka, who never dated anyone before, will "practice" on Nanami first. On Nanami's side, he doesn't want this rich tall guy date his little sister!

Tracks 1-12
Kashiwagi was adopted by Ikasawa and in order to repay the debt his parents left behind, he provides certain "services" for his new father (while being mocked by Makoto, Ikasawa's son).
One day he overhears a conversation between Ikasawa and his secretary (?) concerning forfeiting Kashiwagi's inheritance, meaning Ikasawa isn't obliged to cover up the debt. Feeling betrayed (they never told him this possibility) Kashiwagi declares he'll leave the house, since he doesn't own Ikasawa anything. In the end, Ikasawa reveals his love for Kashiwagi and all ends well.

H between Makoto and the health teacher, Makoto discovers his pictures in the health room. These tracks prove he really is his father's son.

Sidestory of Yasashikute Toge ga Aru: Being the candid boy he is, Ryou finally tells his father the bad things young master does to him. I can only add: poor Ryou... XD

There are so many scanlations, and publishers start to license more and more manga. However, how many ppl will truly buy those damn book after already getting their pawns on the scanlations? Let's face it, no one will buy everything they've read online before, I'm the first to admit it. To me there are 2 kinds, The first one being the manga that is fun to read once and to be never read again, say tissues, and the second kind you keep reading over and over again (like napkins!). I try to buy as much as I can from the latter one, however, I noticed I keep postponing to buy the interesting ones since they're also available as scanlations. Sure, scanlators keep repeating not to distribute the licensed versions, but we all know they only put it there in order not to get sued...
And about the first kind of manga, the "the tissues" manga, I feel a bit guilty about them, but you can't buy everything, unless you're loaded, and I'm not strong enough to stop reading after the first chapter.
This isn't about whether scanlations are justified or not, since I'm all about the "test first" policy and it's thanks to scanlations that I bought certain series. Not too sure how to classify this... perhaps it is... after reading it over it sure sounds like that... Perhaps it's more like, you publishers must only license what the majority of ppl will like to earn lots and lots of money!, like Yamane Ayano (in yaoiworld), crazy how popular her works are. (but the US being such a huge market, even with a niche genre, there will be enough ppl interested)
(I'm aware this problem occurs in other domains as well, but we're talking about manga right now :p)

Haia (the few ones who come here, who I really appreciate btw even though I'm too lazy to react on comments ^.^)

No updates, sorry
While I was supposed to be studying, procrastinating me has been lurking around on the net, and during that time, my situation changed: yours truly has joined a scanlationgroup. Which one? You'll know, since Egoism and Newaza will be scanlated by those lovely ladies(yiiihaaa). Look forward to it, because they're revised with a new dictionary, and after it's proofread, the versions will differ. Like... the names! After rechecking them in the jpn raws, it turned out the names were all wrong, it's Keita instead of Teita! They were probably confused with each other since all three names weren't written down... instead they were typed in all at once with a louzy memory. Oh well, at least they're correct (?) now... And it's also Miyano instead of Kyuuya ehehehehehehe... I suck I know.

But what will be the purpose of this LJ (since the translations will be used right)???

Besides the projects of the scanlationgroup, there will still be other projects chosen by me. However, when the first chapter is released by the scanlationgroup, all translations of that particular manga will be friendslocked. This is something I've chosen myself. Apply for friends: here
Besides manga, a new passion appeared: Drama-cd's (ofcourse yaoi ones :p). I'm thinking about translating the chinese scripts of those into English. Answer will be the first one. Why? Because someone posted the english translations of this novel, and I'm dying to know next ;-)

All this affects the usual postspeed (which was at least 1 chapter a week), and even though there is summervacation starting in July, money doesn't grow on trees (if so, tell me where), so I got to get out and work :p! I hope it will leave me enough time for my yaoipassion :(

On the sidenote: After current projects are finished, the next ones will be Heian Jou Ruri Monogatari from the mangaka of Kaze to ki no ute (which probably won't be scanlated considering the LQ scans). This story is so tragic and sad, I couldn't resist :D. The other one added to the future is... tumtumtum: Seikimatsu Darling XD!!! Gosh this manga is so great, though I'll wait a little because I suspect other scanlation groups love it as much as I do (finally cn raws!)

That's it, I don't think there will be other alterations here...
